Father Cezary Kozubek, our Pastor, is a native of Poland. Born in Oświęcim – better known by its German name of Auschwitz – and raised in Rzeszów, southeast of Poland. He is second of three and has an older brother and a younger sister. Before entering the seminary, he earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Rzeszów, and served for a while as a science and biology teacher. In November of 2005 he arrrived in Washington, DC to begin his formation at the Redemptoris Mater Seminary in Hyattsville, MD. Father Kozubek was ordained priest for the Archdiocese of Washington on June 21, 2014 by Cardinal Donald Wuerl. His first assignment was Saint Peter's in Waldorf, MD where he served for four year as a parrochial vicar. Then he was transferred to Saint John the Baptist in Silver Spring, MD and eventually appointed Administrator at Assumption Church in Washington DC in July of 2021 and in July of 2023 he became officially our pastor. He likes to say that “I am at my happiest when I am sharing my faith with others. If I can manage to share with others what I myself have received, that would bring me great joy.”
