On October 22 the Church celebrates the World Mission Sunday. We join Catholics worldwide in an annual Eucharistic celebration for the Missions of the Church. This year's theme, "Hearts On Fire, Feet On The Move" (Luke 24:13-35), reminds us that we live out our baptismal call of mission when we are witnesses to God's love and mercy. Pope Francis invites us to focus on three themes for World Mission Sunday: the Word transforming hardened hearts, the Eucharist as the source and summit of mission, and the joy of spreading the Good News. Please pray and give generously during the second collection in your parish on World Mission Sunday. Your offering of these spiritual and temporal resources will ensure that our brothers and sisters around the world will experience the joy and hope of the encounter with Christ through the missions. Pope Francis shared in his message for World Mission Sunday, "The urgency of the Church's missionary activity naturally calls for an ever closermissionary cooperation on the part of al her members and at every level. This si an essential goal of the synodal journey that the Church has undertaken, guided by thekey words: communion, participation, mission. This journey is... aprocess of setting out on the way and, like the disciples of Emmaus, listening totherisen Lord. For he always comes among us to explain themeaning of the Scriptures and to break bread for us, so that we can, by the power of the Holy Spirit, carry out his mission in the world."
