Wishing Bishop Holley a Fruitful Ministry in Tennessee

Congratulations to Bishop Holley who has been named Bishop of Memphis, Tennessee by Pope Francis! While we are sad to see him leave Washington, we are happy for him and for the people of Memphis. They are getting a shepherd who truly has the love, kindness, and joy of Christ in his heart. We were very blessed to have His Excellency celebrate Mass last August to kick off our jubilee year as a parish. My brother priests and I have been blessed to get to know him well for 12 years in our Archdiocese. He sent each of us a Christmas card every year, and went out of his way to personally greet us whenever he saw us. He was a constant champion and supporter of priests and Catholics here, particularly black Catholics. He’s even throwing out the first pitch at today’s “DC Padres” baseball game, so you know he’s cool! We wish him and his people well, and that God will bless his apostolic ministry with much fruitfulness for many years.

May you know the peace of Christ,

Fr Greg

Enjoy Baseball While Supporting Our Priests!

On Sunday, August 28, the DC Padres, a baseball team consisting entirely of Catholic priests and seminarians, will play their final game of the 2016 season at Prince George’s Stadium (home of the Bowie Baysox).

This will be a game to remember! Bishop Holley will be there, and the Padres are ready to win. And let’s remember that our own Fr. Greg is on the Padres team. The Padres face off against the Bishop McNamara Mustangs at about 5-5:30pm (shortly after the 2pm Baysox game ends).

Keep your eye on the DC Padres website ( and Facebook page for updates and info about how to purchase tickets, or call Mary at 240-565-1680 if you have questions.

Mark your calendars now and tell your friends. Let’s fill the stadium in support of our priests and seminarians!
